Early in Person

Early Voting for the Primary starts June 26th and ends August 10th. To vote early in person, you can vote at your local election office or another designated early voting location. Dates and times vary by location, find more information here

Voters in District 40A can vote early in person or return absentee ballots at the Plato Building in St. Paul starting June 26. Starting July 24, Ramsey County Library - Roseville* and Ramsey County Library - Shoreview** will open for Ramsey County residents to vote in person. Voters may use whichever location is most convenient, regardless of the city in which they live.

No matter which location you choose, you can register when you vote if you are not already registered. If you’re not already registered, Minnesota allows same day voter registration. Just bring proof of residence, as detailed here.

Early by Mail

To vote early by mail, apply online for your absentee ballot at the Minnesota Secretary of State website. Allow AT LEAST two weeks for your ballot to make its way back to the election office if you return it by mail. Your ballot will not count if it is received after Primary Election Day.

On Primary Election Day, August 11, the only place you may return your absentee ballot in person is the Ramsey County Elections Office by 5 p.m.

You can also vote in person at your assigned polling place. Your absentee ballot will be spoiled (made invalid in the system) and you will be issued a new ballot to cast at the polling place.
